Revere Bridge Replacement Route 145 (Winthrop Ave) Weekend Schedule
June 3, 2015
REVERE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT –
ROUTE 145 (WINTHROP AVENUE) OVER THE MBTA
WEEKEND SCHEDULE
Please be advised of the following changes to the upcoming weekend schedule for the work associated with the replacement of the Route 145 (Winthrop Avenue) Bridge over the MBTA in Revere:
UPDATED Weekend Schedule
Stage 1 Construction – Route 145 WB (leaving Revere Beach)
Friday, June 5th through Monday, June 8th
- A single lane for Route 145 EB will remain OPEN across the bridge throughout the weekend work activities.
- Route 145 WB traffic will be detoured beginning on Friday, June 5th at 9:00 PM and continuing through Monday, June 8th at 5:00 AM.
- The sidewalk on the south side of the existing bridge will remain OPEN to pedestrians throughout the weekend work activities.
Route 145 WB traffic will be detoured as follows:
Right turn onto North Shore Road NB to Wonderland (Butler) Circle; take 3rd exit from rotary onto Route 1A SB to Mahoney (Bell) Circle; take 4th exit on rotary continuing on Route 1A SB; bear right onto Route 16 WB.
During this time, the contractor will continue bridge and roadway construction on the new WB bridge.
An increased presence of traffic police details will be assigned to assist with the WB detour and traffic management through and around the work zone. The affected section of the Commuter Rail will be closed beginning on Saturday, June 6th at 12:30 AM and continuing through Monday, June 8th at 5:00 AM. MBTA/Keolis will provide busing for the closed section of railroad. MBTA will modify its bus routes through the work zone to follow the detour route.
On Monday, June 8th at 5:00 AM, Route 145 will re-open with 2 travel lanes in each direction and railroad operations will resume.
There are no anticipated roadway closures that would require the complete detouring of traffic from June 8th through the Labor Day Holiday due to restrictions on Railroad closures and increased traffic volumes from Beach traffic. Through this time, the contractor will be coordinating utility relocation and continuing construction operations using temporary lane closures during the standard hours of operation.
Stage 2 will also require two weekend shutdowns of the bridge to complete construction of the project. These closures are scheduled for late Fall 2015 and additional advisories will be issued in advance of that work. Final paving and landscape work is expected to occur in spring 2016.
