The Solicitor's Office primary purpose is to provide legal services to the City of Revere, which includes the Mayor, the City Council, City Departments, and Boards and Commissions. We advise the City on a variety of matters to help decrease potential legal liabilities and to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. We are responsible for all litigation to which the City of Revere is a party.

Where can I receive legal advice for private matters involving tenant/landlord matters?
As legal counsel to the City of Revere, the City Solicitor’s Office is prohibited from providing legal representation or legal advice to members of the public. Therefore, if residents of the City of Revere have a private dispute, the Solicitor’s Office cannot advise them on how to proceed. Residents are advised to consult with a private attorney.
Can I cut or trim the limbs of my neighbor’s tree? Or a City tree?
The City is unable to provide legal advice for neighbor-related questions.

The Law Department does not provide legal interpretations and suggests consulting with a private attorney.
How long does it take to process my claim?
Once a notice of claim has been received by the City Solicitor's Office, the City begins an investigation into the incident. This includes consulting with pertinent department heads and/or outside agencies. Depending on the nature of the claim, a response can take anywhere between 30 to 120 days.
