Revere Market Basket Opening Set

October 21, 2014

Store will open on Sunday October 26th followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Thursday October 30th

Revere – Mayor Daniel Rizzo is pleased to announce that Market Basket, located at Northgate Shopping Center on Squire Road Revere will be officially opening it's doors on Sunday October 26th with a ribbon cutting to follow on Thursday October 30th at 9:00AM. Mayor Rizzo will be joined by Market Basket officials along with local and state elected leaders, and members of the business community to formally announce the opening.

“It has been a long, hard road to get our own Revere Market Basket open for our residents, but I'm sure it will all be worth the wait. We have always believed, and continue to believe that bringing Market Basket to Revere will serve as a catalyst towards future economic development in the Northgate area of our community. I look forward to working with Mr. DeMoulas and his very capable team at Market Basket for many years to come. This opening and other planned openings and groundbreakings across the city are consistent with our goal of making Revere a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” stated Mayor Rizzo.

This Market Basket opening is part of Mayor Rizzo’s larger economic development strategy that he feels will lead to further large scale commercial developments projects in our community. To help that process along, the Mayor and Economic Development Director John Festa are planning Revere’s second Economic Development Summit that will take place on Friday November 21st from 9:00am through 1:00pm at the Revere Showcase Cinema (565 Squire Road). This summit will bring together developers, State, Local, and Federal officials, as well as prominent businesses leaders from around New England and beyond, to review Revere’s ongoing economic development strategy and provide a progress update since the last summit held in the fall of 2012.
