Revere Get Your Business Online Challenge Continues

January 31, 2014

Revere – Mayor Daniel Rizzo, in conjunction with the Revere Chamber of Commerce, the Revere Community School, the Interact Club at Revere High School, The Neighborhood Developers, and other local stakeholders, is continuing his initiative to engage local business owners through the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s Get Your Business Online Challenge. Get Your Business Online provides small business owners with a custom domain name, web development and hosting, and access to educational resources -- all for free for one year. Since its debut in July 2011, the program has helped over 135,000 business owners successfully get online and start growing.

Starting on Tuesday March 4, 2014 and running through Tuesday April 15, 2014, the Revere Get Your Business Online Challenge team will be holding training sessions for local business owners so that they can develop a web presence. The classes will be held at the Revere Community School, 101 School Street, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Local business owners in need of a website are encouraged to attend these training classes which will be staffed by students from the Interact Club and IT professionals from the community. If you would like to preregister for a class please call the Mayor’s Office at 781-286-8111 or email using revere_mayor@revere.org.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and businesses that are online grow faster and are on average, twice as likely to create jobs,” said Mayor Rizzo. “We have brought together a great team to spearhead the challenge and I hope that business owners will get involved and take advantage of this great opportunity by attending one of our upcoming training classes.”

Although 97% of Internet users are now looking online to find local products and services, 58% of American businesses still do not have a website. Through increased participation in the Revere Get Your Business Challenge, Mayor Rizzo hopes to close that gap.

During the month of February Revere Get Your Business Online Challenge team members will also be out in the community helping business owners develop a web presence. Team members will be visiting local businesses and assisting them in order to get their stores information online.

The Revere Chamber of Commerce is offering a reduced rate of membership for any businesses that participates in the program. If you would like to learn more about this incentive please call the Chamber at 781-289-8009
