[title] => Harvard Graduate Students Share Ideas with the Community
    [description] =>
From Wonderland to Beachmont, the City of Revere has tremendous potential to define its future. The coastal district has spectacular beachfront and transit access, but also must contend with climate change, storm resiliency, vacant and underutilized properties, and low lying marshes. After six weeks of intensive work, forty-four planning students at the Harvard Graduate School of Design will be sharing their ideas for these sites in a community open house on Thursday, April 23, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The open house will be held in the City Council Chambers at Revere City Hall.

The Harvard students have been using their time to visit different sections of the community and talk to as many people as possible, including local residents, businesses, city and state officials, youth and immigrant groups, and real estate professionals. They’ve been spotted intercepting people at the Revere MBTA stations and at grocery stores, but have also been engaging in interviews and small group discussions and reaching out through social media. During this time, they’ve also been hard at work in the studio testing different programs; sketching new streets, parks, and buildings; and imagining different ways of connecting through and across this part of Revere and beyond, whether by bicycle, transit, or on foot. Some of the sites may require creative ideas to withstand storms and the potential for rising sea levels.

The Community Open House welcomes all residents, business owners, employees, or other interested parties to drop in and view the illustrated plans and stay to talk about the possibilities and implications for the future. This event will help launch the city’s Plan Revere initiative.

If you haven’t had a chance to express your opinion about the future of Revere’s coastal district or if you want to learn more about the studio visit www.enagerevere.com.
