Water & Sewer Infrastructure Public Meeting

June 12, 2013
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Water and Sewer Infrastructure Information

On June 12, 2013, Mayor Rizzo, along with City of Revere officials, will hold a public meeting to discuss the City’s ongoing water and sewer infrastructure improvements. The meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Lecture Room at the Rumney Marsh Academy at 140 American Legion Hwy.

The City and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have entered into a Consent Decree to detect and eliminate illegal sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) in the City over the next 10 years. The improvement projects will target sources of inflow and infiltration (I/I) within the City’s aging sewer and drainage system(s). These improvements are expected to total more than $10 million.

The upcoming meeting is part of Mayor Rizzo’s efforts to educate City residents on the Consent Decree requirements and ways to reduce water and sewer costs. During the meeting, the Mayor will discuss the completed and planned improvements, as well as the project’s long-term goals and its benefits for the public.

“I know that during difficult economic times, we are all struggling to pay our bills. I hope that in the future these issues will be alleviated,” says Mayor Rizzo. “We are holding this public meeting to give the residents of the city the ability to understand the infrastructure improvements that are occurring. I hope residents will come out to the meeting on June 12, 2013, to learn more about the important work that is underway to improve the quality of our city.”
