SYSTEM WIDE WATER FLUSHING

April 4, 2013

As part of our effort to improve and maintain the water quality for the Citizens of Revere, we will be commencing a system wide hydrant-flushing program. It is anticipated that the flushing will begin the week of April 22, 2013. The flushing of the system will take approximately eight to ten weeks. To reduce inconvenience as much as possible, actual flushing will take place between 8:00pm and 2:00am on Mondays through Thursdays.

Please be aware that the flushing may cause some temporary discoloration of the water, which can last for several hours. If this occurs, let the water run for a period of time until the water clears. It may be advisable to draw some water for drinking and store it in the refrigerator. Although the discoloration has no health significance, it may cause stains to laundry.

If the flow of water appears to be reduced after flushing, the aerators on the end of the faucet and showerheads may require cleaning. The aerators can be removed and rinsed to restore the flow of water. If the water continues to be discolored after running your faucets, please contact the Revere Department of Public Works at 781-286-8149. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
