Special Olympics Young Athlete Program Coming To Revere! Volunteers and Athletes Wanted!

August 16, 2016

Mayor Brian Arrigo is delighted to announce that Special Olympics is officially returning to Revere with the launch of the Young Athletes Program this fall. The program seeks children age 2-7 with intellectual disabilities to sign up to participate; they also need volunteers willing to help support the athletes each week.

The Special Olympics Young Athlete Program is a free, unique sports & play program for kids age 2-7 with intellectual disabilities, focusing on fun activities important to mental and physical growth. This program is an early introduction to sports and the world of Special Olympics.

The program will run each Saturday from September 24-November 12, 2016, from 11 am to 12 pm; events will be held at the Paul Revere School gymnasium, 395 Revere St.

"We are delighted to welcome Special Olympics back to Revere," said Mayor Arrigo. "This effort has been spearheaded by Revere parents passionate about providing activities and support for children with disabilities. I am confident that this fall's Young Athletes program will be a success, allowing us to build off of it and offer more Special Olympics programming for all ages in the future."

Parents must preregister through Special Olympics to sign up their kids. The signup form can be found online at revere.org.

Those interested in volunteering must complete a CORI form. The program is also seeking donations of small water bottles and store bought bagged snacks each week. Please contact Enza Goodwin at 781-485-7163 or email etumb@comcast.net with any questions.
