Roca, the nation-leading intervention model helping highest-risk young men end criminal behavior and turn their lives around has awarded the Revere Police Department a $ 20,000 grant for training and interventions. Revere is a sub recipient of an grant award received by Roca from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security through the Department of Justice/Bureau of Justice Assistance Justice Assistance Grant(JAG) Program.
Roca’s success with its initial program in Chelsea and its first replication effort in Springfield Ma., has been profound. The intervention model has shown significant results for high risk young people who are out of school and are street,-court-and gang involved.
Several Revere Officers have already been through training at Roca in Chelsea Ma. which includes Restorative Justice Circle Training and principles of intervention. Officers will provide outreach to individuals who have been identified as high risk in the community and work with them to get them involved with Roca.
“This partnership with Roca enhances some of our efforts in dealing with high risk individuals in our community and dealing with repeat offenders.” said Chief Cafarelli.
