Mayor Rizzo Revamps Boards & Commission Appointment Process
December 15, 2014
Residents are encouraged to submit resumes and letters of interest for openings on the Conservation Commission and other boards and commissions going forward
Revere- Today Mayor Rizzo announced that he will be opening up the appointment process for board and commission vacancies with the City of Revere starting with two positions on the Conservation Commission. Information on all boards and commissions, along with how to participate, are now on the City’s website revere.org.
Boards and commissions are important in that they enable the public to participate in Revere’s government processes. Their activities help shape and influence public policy because they lend an expanded viewpoint for the Mayor and City Council to consider. Mayor Rizzo deeply appreciates the assistance boards and commission currently play in city government, and is excited to continue making efforts to attract qualified public servants that represent the city’s growing and diverse population.
“When the two openings came up for the Conservation Commission this past Fall, I felt that it was time to formally revamp the appointment process for our boards and commissions. From now on, every time there is an opening, or vacancy, we will be making a public announcement to the community calling for resumes and letters of interest. I am hopeful that this process will help to further diversify and more adequately represent our community on boards and commissions,” stated Mayor Rizzo.
