Mayor Arrigo, Veterans’ Services Office Host Veterans Roundtable
March 27, 2017
On Saturday, March 25, 60 Revere veterans, including 35 veterans of the Vietnam War, were honored at a Veterans’ Roundtable at the American Legion.
Mayor Brian Arrigo and the city’s Department of Veterans Services, under the leadership of new director and decorated veteran Marc Silvestri, hosted the roundtable as a way to engage veterans in the community.
Veterans had an opportunity for open dialogue with city leaders. Silvestri also discussed city, state and federal benefits available to veterans and their families, and solicited ideas about how Revere could better serve its veterans. Among the programs discussed were the monthly veterans food bank hosted at the American Legion, and an ongoing initiative to help connect veterans with local jobs.
Along with Mayor Arrigo, Senator Joe Boncore and City Councilors Ira Novoselsky, Charlie Patch and Patrick Keefe were among the dignitaries who attended in support of local veterans.
Veterans and their families are encouraged to contact the Department of Veterans Services at 781-286-8119 with any questions about their benefits or services available to them in Revere.
