Revere Veterans Services Office to Host Ceremony on American Legion Lawn
Tuesday, May 25, 2021 – The City of Revere Veterans Service office will host Memorial Day Exercises on the American Legion Lawn at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 31, 2021. This year the ceremony will be open to the general public, 2020 Memorial Day Exercises were strictly virtual.
“For many, Memorial Day means the beginning of summer, the start of warm weather, and a long weekend. For the Gold Star families and friends of those we’ve lost in combat, it’s a day to remember their fallen heroes,” said Marc Silvestri, Director of Revere’s Veterans Services Office. “Men like Glenn Swell, Ryan King, and many others like them have left to serve our country and never came home. It’s our responsibility to continue to keep the tradition of honoring our fallen on Memorial Day. All game some, some gave all.”
The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Director of Veterans’ Services, Marc Silvestri and include a Benediction from Pastor Tim of First Congregational Church, the laying of wreaths, musical selections, the playing of taps, and a recitation of The Names of the Fallen. The guest speaker is Retired Maj. Deborah A. Bowker of the US Army.
Residents unable to attend the ceremony in person are welcome to tune in on RevereTV (Comcast channel 8/9 and 1072 HD, RCN channel 3/13 & 613/614HD), Facebook, or Youtube.
