Carol Donovan Recognized in Mayor Rizzo's Employee Recognition Program

April 29, 2014

Last Fall, Mayor Rizzo created the Revere Employee Recognition Program in an attempt to boost morale and improve customer service in City Hall and other municipal buildings. Municipal employees are being recognized on a quarterly basis for outstanding job performance. Employees of the Quarter are nominated by their peers and selected by a committee that reviews each submission.

With over a dozen nominations this quarter, Carol Donovan, an employee with the Board of Health was chosen as this quarter’s employee to be rewarded. Carol is an exemplary employee who goes above and beyond her job expectations on a daily basis. Carol began her employment with City Hall as the Public Health Nurse in 2004. Carol is currently the City’s Public Health Nurse as well as the Director of Nurses for Revere Public Schools. Her direct supervisor, Nick Catinazzo, Director of Inspectional Services, stated that,

“Carol is the type of employee that every Department Head dreams of. Carol is loved by all who know her, whether it is taking a blood pressure for a senior or giving out flu shots at flu clinics I never have to worry because I know Carol will always do things in a professional manner. Carol is a pleasure to work with and I can’t think of a person more deserving than her to be selected for this award.”

Carol’s job as Public Health Nurse is multi-faceted, She works directly with Massachusetts Public Health Commission in implementing State guidelines within the City; she provides health education, care management and primary care to individuals and families who are members of vulnerable populations and high risk groups; she monitors residents with severe illnesses and often manages medications; she arranges flu clinics and is an active partner with RevereCares, MGH, North Suffolk Mental Health and Revere’s Alcohol and Other Drug Trask Force. Carol is an active volunteer for many community events. She recently, formed a “walking group” within City Hall during lunch time and has been meeting daily with various participants to walk the stairs at City Hall.

In addition to receiving this award, Carol will be recognized by the City Council later this year along with previous recipients who have earned Employee of the Quarter status. They include two prior awardees, Michael Piccardi and Glen DeRosa. Carol has been awarded with a Certification of Recognition by Mayor Rizzo, as well as a Gift Certificate, courtesy of Renzo’s, a reserved parking spot at City Hall for the “Employee of the Quarter”, and four (4) hours of paid time off. “I am pleased with the Committee’s selection. Carol is an asset to the City of Revere and our municipal workforce,” stated Mayor Rizzo.
