Community Crime Watch Meeting

March 26, 2013
6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

With the support of his Neighborhood Advisory Council, other community groups, the City Council, and the Revere Police Department, Mayor Rizzo has launched an aggressive campaign to expand Crime Watch groups across the City. The goal of the program is to energize Crime Watch and create small groups of interested citizens who want to join in each Ward.

Recently, a meeting was held at the Whelan School for residents of Ward 6. Over 100 community members attended the meeting where they learned best practices for Crime Watch formation. Because of that meeting, small crime watch groups have begun to emerge in the area. Representatives from Home Deport were present at the meeting displaying different safety/locking devices available to the public that would help with home security.

The next Community Crime Watch meeting will be held at the American Legion Building on Tuesday March 26th at 6:00PM. The meeting is mainly for residents of Ward 4 however, everyone is welcomed to attend. Members from the aforementioned organization will be there to talk about keeping you and your family safe, as well as reviewing the goals and strategies for crime watch formation. It will conclude with a Question and Answer period to include residents of our community..

“I am really pleased with the outreach efforts being made by the Police Department. The main concern that I hear on a daily basis is that people want to know how to make their neighborhoods safer. I believe that these Crime Watch meetings, in each and every Ward of the City, will help to increase neighborhood security and cohesion,” stated Mayor Rizzo.
