Massport Fire and Rescue to Host Emergency Drill at Logan Airport on Friday October 2, 2015
BOSTON - On Friday, October 2, Logan Airport will be conducting an emergency response drill. The drill is required every three years by the FAA. The purpose of the drill is to test the coordination, communication and response in the event of a major incident at Logan Airport. A number of our mutual aid partners will also take part in the drill, including Boston Fire, Boston EMS, private ambulance companies, State Police and the FBI. The airport will remain open throughout the drill.
The drill is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and go until approximately noon. The public may witness a large number of emergency vehicles in the area as they play out the scenario.
The local news outlets for both East Boston and Winthrop communities have been notified of the drill. Massport will put messages on the Massport website and social media sites, as well as invite local media to observe the drill.
