Plan Revere Community Based Visioning Process Update

May 31, 2015

Residents invited to join the Steering Committee and get involved in planning the future of Revere

Revere – City Officials have been meeting with representatives from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) for the past several weeks to finalize a path forward for the “Plan Revere” community based visioning process. The City and MAPC, along with other local and state private and public organizations, will be partnering together for the Plan Revere process.

MAPC is the regional planning agency serving the people who live and work in the 101 cities and towns of Metropolitan Boston. MAPC’s mission is to promote smart growth and regional collaboration. The organization works to create sound municipal management, sustainable land use, protection of natural resources, efficient and affordable transportation, a diverse housing stock, public safety, economic development, clean energy, healthy communities, an informed public, and equity and opportunity among people of all backgrounds. MAPC has led similar visioning initiatives in communities across Metro Boston and their organization will ensure that residents are able to provide input in a clear and effective manner.

The first public meeting for the project was held in early May and the information gathered at the meeting has helped guide next steps. A series of public forums, planning sessions, and community input initiatives will begin to take place over the coming months. The volunteer Steering Committee will be comprised of four subcommittees with a focus on Economic Development, Housing, Transportation, and Public Facilities and Infrastructure. Steering Committee members will help with data collection and act as a resource for staff throughout.
