is room 16 located on the second floor and all are invited to attend.

08-174                  The City Council will meet in Executive Session to discuss the appointment of Mr. Robert Sasso as a Licensed Drain/Sewer Layer for the City of Revere.

Motions

 

08-214        Motion presented by Councillors Correggio and Colella:  That the Mayor request the Fire Chief to arrange for a demonstration for the City Council on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at the new East Fire Station to demonstrate that the new ladder truck can enter the rear of the new East Fire Station.

 

08-215        Motion presented by Councillor Rotondo:  That the Mayor request that any person or entity seeking appointment, employment contracting or business with the City of Revere must provide a CORI (criminal record information check) prior to awarding or granting any contract, agreement, appointment or employment.  Further, that all CORI checks are to be conducted by the Chief of Police or his designee and confirmation of said CORI is then submitted to the City Council for review prior to any confirmation of appointment, employment or awarding of any contract.

 

08-216        Motion presented by Councillor Rizzo:  That the Mayor request our State Delegation to report back to the City Council any state initiatives that would help curb the social and economic impact of foreclosures throughout our community. 

 

08-217        Motion presented by Councillor Correggio:  That the Mayor request the Superintendent of Public Works to remove the trees located in front 31 and 38 Graves Road in the interest of public safety.  The tree is uprooting the sidewalk.  (Rule 37 Motion)

 

08-218        Motion presented by Councillor Colella:  That an Academic Certificate of Commendation be presented to Sebastian Dominguez-Duran for his academic achievement as the highest ranked academic graduate of the Class of 2008 at the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School.

 

08-219        Motion presented by Councillor Colella:  That the Mayor request the Building Inspector and the License Commission to provide the City Council with all current Licenses and Occupancy and Use Permits issued to Wonderland Dog Track to enable the City Council to determine the number of uses being conducted at said location.  Further, that the Collector of Taxes and License Commission provide the City Council with certification relative to payment of all real estate taxes, water and sewer charges and license fees relative to Wonderland Dog Track.

 

08-220        Motion presented by Councillor Kimmerle:  That the Mayor request the Superintendent of the DPW to investigate the flooding problem during heavy rains at the 167 block of Winthrop Avenue.  (Rule 37 Motion)

 

08-221        Motion presented by Councillor Kimmerle:  That the Mayor contact The Superintendent of the DPW to ensure that the flood gates on Winthrop Parkway open and close properly.

 

08-222        Motion presented by Councillors Correggio and Haas:  That the Mayor request the Chief of Police to monitor excessive speeding at the lower end of Cushman Avenue near Tuckerman Street in the interest of public safety.

 

08-223        Motion presented by Councillor Powers:  That the following proposed special legislation be filed with the Massachusetts General Court for consideration during the 2008 legislative session:

 

An Act Authorizing The Mayor of the City of Revere to Appoint An Additional Fifteen Members to the Reserve Force of Firemen of the City of Revere Fire Department.

 

Section 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the mayor of the City of Revere is hereby authorized to appoint an additional fifteen members to the reserve force of firemen of the City of Revere fire department, in addition to the number allowed by the provisions of Section 59C of Chapter 48 of the general laws.

 

Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.

 

08-224        Motion presented by Councillor Powers:  That the Mayor request Inspectional Services to take immediate action to correct the following violations at the construction site adjacent to 46 Bryant Street:

 

1.     In the interest of public safety, that a secure fence be erected to prevent access to the site.

2.     In the interest of public health, that the stagnant water be drained from the site.

 

08-225        Motion presented by Councillor Patch:  That the Mayor request Inspectional Services to investigate the rodent problem at 37 Sherman Street.  Further, that the culvert parallel to Sherman Street be cleaned of debris.

 

08-226        Motion presented by Councillor Patch:  That the Mayor request the Traffic Commission to install “No Truck” signs on Sigourney Street and Charger Street.

 

08-227        Motion presented by Councillor Novoselsky and Guinasso:  That the Revere City Council offer a Certificate of Commendation to Gina Ciampa for her first place finish in the Walter Childs 26.2 mile Marathon held in Holyoke, MA.
