FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

From Rowe Quarry to Overlook Ridge

Long a familiar if crumbling landmark along Route One near the Revere/Malden line, the Rowe Quarry rock crusher finally came down recently to make way for one of the most modern housing developments along the North Shore.

Revere residents are invited to tune to KBLE-TV8 and watch “From Rowe Quarry to Overlook Ridge” to see a little bit of local history and get a glimpse into the future.  The program highlights the shared history of, and the unique partnership between, the cities of Revere and Malden over the old Rowe Quarry site and its transformation into Overlook Ridge.

The show features Mayor Thomas Ambrosino, Mayor Richard Howard of Malden and Carl Rowe, who talk about the Rowe family history of the quarry.  Representatives of Roseland Property Company, the site developer, give the audience a preview of Overlook Ridge and discuss the ongoing construction.

Using historical photographs, interviews and contemporary footage, “From Rowe Quarry to Overlook Ridge” shows how the public and private interests were successfully merged to help create much needed housing in both cities, and at the same time, find a suitable use for a site that was once slated to be a landfill.  The first phase of construction of Overlook Ridge is expected to be finished in 2004.

“From Rowe Quarry to Overlook Ridge” is a co-production of KBLE-TV8 and MATV and is aired as a public service by Comcast.  Cable television subscribers of AT & T/Comcast can view the program Wednesdays at 6:30pm and Sundays at 9pm throughout March.
