Collectors Office
This office is required to maintain the highest percentage of collections versus outstanding receivables on Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicle Excise taxes and Water bills.
All payments of taxes are required to be current by June 30th of the fiscal year or the delinquents are turned over to tax title in the Treasurers Office. A lien is placed on the deed at the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds at that time.
All records pertaining to the collection of monies are to be kept by this office
Treasurers Office
This department will collect monies due the City from all sources and record the receipts and distributions of such funds. These funds will be invested at the highest rate of interest and least amount of risk available and will be deposited in the appropriate banking institutions.
Delinquent tax payers who are in tax title will be processed under the guidelines of the Massachusetts Laws.
All energies will be expended to insure the financial stability of the City with the credit rating agencies (Moodys, Standard and Poors, etc ) and with the banking institutions.
